Remote Control and Remote Services
What Is The Remote Service And Can I Use It?
The Lynx Digital "Remote" service offerings are for situations when an onsite visit by technical staff my not be necessary. Typically, remote services are cheaper then onsite services as an onsite visit is not required. Remote services can either be:
- Speaking on the phone with a technical consultant who will walk you through the set-up of a particular item until it's operational.
- A technician will connect to your computer remotely and take control to complete the service request via your Internet connection.
In order to use the remote service:
- You must be registered in our billing system.
- Any customer who has used our services at least once in the past will be registered.
- If you haven't used our services in the past, you can register online via this form. Your details will then be registered and you can use the service.
- If you request a remote service over the phone, and Lynx Digital does not have your details, we will ask for them over the phone before remote work commences.
- For remote connections to your computer, you will need a broadband Internet connection which is operational and a current version of Windows.
Depending on the situation and the availablitiy of our technical staff, a time may be scheduled with you for the remote repair to take place. You will receive a phone call at that time, and the technician will guide you through how to give our staff access to your computer for the remote service to take place. Payment for the remote service is due upon the completion of the remote service session.
Initiating A Remote Connection To Lynx Digital
In order for our technical staff to control your computer remotely, you need to:
- Be on the phone with Lynx Digital technical staff
- Be registered by Lynx Digital (register here)
- Have a Broadband modem connection (ADSL/Cable or above)
- Be using a current version of Windows
Once these items and been checked off, and when requested by the technician over the phone, click the icon below to download the remote control service.
